Welcome to my blog

The main purpose of this blog is to post ideas and to promote discussion related to my research as a media scholar.

I am currently a postdoc at the Department of Information Science and Media Studies, University of Bergen. I am part of the interdisciplinary research project Of Authorship and Originality: Reclaiming Copyright in Support of Creative Collaboration in the Digital Environment. The aim is to explore the relevance to copyright law of theories from the humanities. The project is financially supported by the HERA Joint Research Programme which is co-funded by AHRC, AKA, DASTI, ETF, FNR, FWF, HAZU, IRCHSS, MHEST, NWO, RANNIS, RCN, VR and The European Community FP7 2007-2013, under the Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities programme.

Besides the HERA project, I’m also writing a book on the television series The Wire, and I’ll be posting thoughts and updates on this project as well.
The two projects actually overlap a fair bit, as my work on The Wire touches on several issues that are relevant to the postdoc as well, such as the nature of television authorship and the series’ use of intertextual references.
